Taylor Engle: Colours & Life
Hey Warriors,
I wrote this piece when I was about four months into my recovery. I hope you all enjoy it and I hope it encourages people to keep pushing!
Colours & Life
The first thing I noticed when I started to recover was that I could see colours again.
I remember walking into my university's main building and staring around in wonder; people - there were actual people with beating hearts and real lives. A young woman passed me and I could see the detailing in how her red shirt was fastened, I watched her shiny auburn hair bounce with her every step. The plants in the lobby were bright green, well-quenched and appealing to the eyes. My stomach was bloated and in major discomfort, unused to the food I had begun to give it, but I did my best to ignore it as I continued to look around to see what else there was new.
There was life.
There was colour.
I had finally awoken to experience it, after so long seeing the world in black and grey. I was beginning to feel alive again. I could feel the warm colours of hope.
That day I caught a glimpse of happiness. I saw it as a possibility for everyone around me, and a possibility for even myself.
Keep fighting warriors.
Lots of love from,
Taylor Engle
