In Pursuit, Together
“…not to be shy towards the fact that we have good days and bad days, and that actually the two together create the art, and the artist themselves. I’ve always been someone that wants to be their best self all of the time, and that’s not possible. You have moments within life where you’re at a really good place, and moments and seasons when you’re not, and you’ve definitely taught me that the two together create your most authentic self, your greatest way of expressing. You need both, the light and the shade, and to put that into dance is beautiful.”
“The mixture of an artist’s and athlete’s mindset is a beautiful thing, but it can also be quite a toxic and brutal mentality to have. And that’s something that I’ve dealt with since I started dancing, I still deal with now, where is my line - how much do I give and how much do I keep for myself, for my art form. I think that’s the biggest thing that I’m exploring, because you can only give so much, and still feel it for yourself as well.”
“…and that’s something that I really hope to encourage in others, is that, you need your people. And that even though being an artist is a solo journey, you can’t get there, or do it, alone. It’s that community sense, and the love inside of it - it’s everything.”
